Can You Explain Your Research in 3 Minutes? Join the 2025 3MT Competition!

The Clock is Ticking: The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Returns!

Research is complex. Explaining it shouldn’t be.

The COES Graduate Student Council invites all Master’s thesis and PhD students to take on the ultimate communication challenge: The 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition.

This is your chance to step out of the lab, captivate an audience, and distill years of hard work into a compelling, three-minute narrative. Not only is this an excellent opportunity to sharpen your public speaking skills, but there are also significant cash prizes on the line!

Why Participate?

Beyond the thrill of the competition, the 3MT helps you develop the ability to explain your work effectively to a non-specialist audience—a crucial skill for funding interviews, conferences, and job applications.

Plus, did we mention the prizes?

  • Winner: $500

  • Runner-Up: $250

  • People’s Choice: $250
