GSC Hosts LSU’s Dr. Kunlun Ding for Research Seminar on Catalysis
The College of Engineering and Science (COES) Graduate Student Council (GSC) is thrilled to invite all students and faculty to an engaging research seminar this Friday, October 24th.
We are honored to host Dr. Kunlun Ding, the Chevron Endowed Professor from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU).
Dr. Ding will present his talk titled, “Interfacial Confinement Effects in Heterogeneous Catalysis.”
About the Talk
Supported metal catalysts are essential in many industrial processes, from petrochemicals to biomass conversion. In his seminar, Dr. Ding will explore how the performance of these catalysts is determined by their electronic and geometric properties. He will discuss a general synthesis approach for creating metal/zeolite interfaces and share recent discoveries in the field, including an unintended confinement effect in Pd-catalyzed reactions that could have broad implications.
About the Speaker
Dr. Kunlun Ding is an associate professor at LSU. He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and conducted postdoctoral studies at UC Santa Barbara and Northwestern University before joining LSU in 2016. His research focuses on developing site-specific techniques to understand and rationalize the active sites of heterogeneous catalysts for a wide range of renewable energy applications, including CO2 conversion, H2 production, and plastic recycling.
This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with and learn from a leading expert in a critical field. We encourage everyone to attend!
See you there, The COES Graduate Student Council
